# AUTOMATION.md starters

Five ready AUTOMATION.md files for common unattended jobs. Each is a complete file with one job in status draft, a short note on when to use it and what to change, and it passes check_automation with no errors under the default rules. Copy one, change the owner, names, schedule and amounts, show it to the owner, and set status on only after their yes.

- [Daily report](https://automation.md/starters/daily-report.md): A job that only reads and reports, on a fixed schedule, with a small budget. Nothing leaves your systems and nothing is changed, so it needs no approval step.
- [Inbox triage](https://automation.md/starters/inbox-triage.md): A job that sorts a shared inbox through the working day and drafts replies, where every reply waits for a person's yes before the send step. Labels and drafts stay inside your systems; the send does not.
- [Nightly sync](https://automation.md/starters/nightly-sync.md): A job that copies changed records from one system to another every night: it writes, so it has capped retries with a growing backoff and a timeout well under the gap between runs.
- [Invoice reminders](https://automation.md/starters/invoice-reminders.md): A job that reminds customers about overdue invoices: it contacts people outside and spends a little on each send, so it has a spend cap per run, per day and per month, a time of day outside quiet hours, limits on how often one customer is contacted, and a person's yes before the send.
- [Alert watch](https://automation.md/starters/alert-watch.md): A job that runs on an event (an alert), adds it to the on-call queue, and hands it to a person when it keeps coming back. min_gap is the rate limit: a run that comes sooner holds. Telling the backup contact waits for the owner's yes, so a burst of alerts never pages anyone on its own.

Tool: GET https://automation.md/api/v1/automation_starter?kind=<id> returns the file, its jobs and its check; without kind, this list. New starters and changes to these show up in this index and in GET https://automation.md/api/v1/automation_starter; each file's X-Content-SHA256 header changes with its text.
